Starting Salary: 15.50 hour DOQ

General Purpose: 
The work of cleaning and sanitizing is performed independently, following established policies and procedures, in and around city buildings and structures. 

Essential Functions: 

1.    Performs general, routine custodial duties, including dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and restocking paper and soap supplies.
2.    Empties trash receptacles, disposes of trash into dumpsters, and bags trash for proper disposal.
3.    Unlock doors, ensuring doors are locked after cleaning areas.
4.    Report needs and concerns to appropriate staff, which may include submitting or recommending work orders and checking supply levels.
5.    Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
6.    Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

1.    Knowledge of the materials, methods, and practices used in cleaning and related custodial operations.
2.    Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of vacuum cleaners, scrubbing machines, polishing machines, and other custodial equipment.
3.    Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with subordinates, other employees, supervisors, and the public.
4.    Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
5.    Ability to perform lifting and cleaning tasks.

Training and Experience 
Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent is preferred. 

Licenses, Certificates, Special Requirements: 
A valid Florida driver's license on the date of hire. 

Physical and Mental Demands: 
The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions 

1. Physical Demands:
Requires sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time, exerting up to 40 pounds of force regularly, lifting to 30 pounds, and bending at the waist. May be exposed to lights, and heights, such as roofs, ceilings, etc. The job risks exposure to hot/cold temperatures, adverse weather, wet, humid conditions, toxic fumes, and noxious odors. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. 
2. Mental Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to use written and oral communication skills; read and interpret data, information and documents; analyze and solve problems; use math and mathematical reasoning; observe and interpret situations; learn and apply new information or new skills; work under deadlines with constant interruptions; interact with City staff and other organizations; and frequently deal with dissatisfied or quarrelsome individuals.
