Cultural Affairs Assistant
Salary Range:$ 15.50 hour DOQ


General Purpose:
Assertive individual interested in promoting the missions and facilities of The City of Mulberry's historic and cultural offerings, including The Mulberry Phosphate Museum, The Mulberry Cultural Center, The Gem Theater, and city-wide events. 


Essential Functions:

  1. Facilitate and perform tours at the museum and cultural center
    2.    Provide quality customer service at all venues
    3.    Effectively communicate educational narratives to a diverse array of guests on the topics of history, natural science, art, and humanities as instructed
    4.    Effectively follow lesson plans for departmental programming with emphasis on elementary students
    5.    Special event assistance
    6.    Collections care assistance
    7.     Audio/Visual systems management
    8.    Assistance with the installation of exhibitions and exhibition breakdown


Minimum Qualifications:
1.    Fast learner
2.    Strong public speaking skills
3.    Flexibility with schedules, with Saturday and evening availability
4.    Able to work with small and large groups of all ages.
5.    Ability to operate an automated computer system with speed and accuracy, including Microsoft Office suite, Internet, social media, and basic audio/visual systems
6.    Must be able to stand for long periods and lift 20 pounds
Training and Experience:
Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent, or an equivalent combination of training and
experience. Bilingual preferred but not required.

Licenses, Certificates, Special Requirements:
A valid Florida driver's license on the date of hire.
