Thank you for registering for Mulberry's inaugural Chili Cook-Off on March 14th! All proceeds benefit local non-profits that serve the Mulberry community.
Things to know: Load-in will be from 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Each contestant will be given a 10' x 10' space. Chili does not have to be made on site. Electricity is available. There are three categories: traditional red, non-traditional, and people's choice. Entrants must make at least 2.5 gallons of each entry.
Entrants will be given a competition packet that will include tasting cups for people's choice, tasting spoons, and containers for judges.
Chili cooks are required to bring all other materials needed including table, chair, tents, ladles, cooking vessels, aprons, knives, and ingredients.
Cooks must be ready to serve the public by 11:00 a.m..
Traditional red chili - beef/pork/or combination of beef/pork meats, cooked with red chili peppers, various spices and other ingredients. Beans are allowed. Non-vegetable fillers such as pasta or rice are not. Preference is not given to either cut meat, ground meat, shredded meat or cubed meat.
Non-traditional chili - Any chili that does not qualify for traditional red chili. Examples are vegan, vegetarian, chicken, green, etc.
People's choice - Any entry is automatically entered into the people's choice. This will be determined by number of votes of the attendees.
Entry fees are $20 per entry. (For example, if a team wants to enter both the traditional and non-traditional, a total of $40 is required. People's choice is automatically entered and does not require an additional fee). Payments can be made online at Chili Cook-Off Entry - City of Mulberry, at City Hall in person. or paid by check made out to "City of Mulberry". Checks can be mailed to City of Mulberry, c/o Chili Cook-Off, P.O. Box 707, Mulberry, FL 33860.
