This information is intended to familiarize City Commission Candidates, campaign treasurers, and residents with the duties and responsibilities required under Florida’s Election Laws, and the City of Mulberry Charter. NOTICE OF ELECTIONS

Election Update:  The Mayor and Commissioners for Seat #2 and Seat #4 ran unopposed so there is no need for an election on April 5, 2022.

To elect a Commissioner to the following seats:

Notice is hereby given in accordance with Florida Statutes 100.021; that the City of Mulberry will conduct its Municipal Election on April 5, 2022,  in the City of Mulberry, Florida to elect a City Commissioner to Mayor, Seat #2 and Seat #4, each for a term of three (3) years.  The election will be held at the Mulberry Civic Center, 901 NE 5th Street, Mulberry, FL 33860.

Candidates must reside within the municipal boundaries and be an elector of the City of Mulberry for at least six (6) months prior to the beginning of qualifying. 

Qualifying for candidates will begin on Monday, February 7, 2022 at noon through February 18, 2022 at 12:00 noon. Candidates must file in person with the City Clerk at City Hall, 104 South Church Avenue, Mulberry, FL  33860.

To be eligible to vote in this General Election, you must reside within the municipal boundaries of the City of Mulberry and be registered with the Polk County Supervisor of Elections by March 7, 2022.

NOMINATION

MATERIALS

Persons may obtain election materials to be used in the qualifying procedure from the City Clerk’s office on or after, Monday, January 24, 2022. There is a twenty dollar ($20.00) City qualifying fee and a thirty-four dollars and forty–five cents ($34.45) state election assessment fee for a total of ($54.45) due upon submittal of qualifying papers for City Commissioner and a twenty dollar ($20.00) City qualifying fee and ($51.69) state election assessment fee for a total of ($71.69) due upon submittal of qualifying papers for Mayor. These fees must be paid by check from the campaign account only and made payable to the City of Mulberry.

To become a candidate, you must be a registered voter in Polk County, a qualified elector in the City of Mulberry residing in the corporate limits of the City of Mulberry, a resident of the City of Mulberry continuously for six months immediately preceding the date of commencement of the term of office and hold no other public office.

Voters will elect City Commissioners for the following seat(s):

Mayor, Seat #2 and Seat #4

Registering to Vote

City residents who are not registered to vote, but would like to participate in the April 5th City Elections, have until March 7th to submit their completed voter registration form to the Elections Office in Bartow. Applications are available at Polk County Supervisor of Elections, Mulberry City Hall, post offices and libraries.
